Objectives
The international business environment is fraught with risk and uncertainty.
International managers are confronted daily with complex tasks and decisions
characterized by risk, uncertainty, and varying legal structures and
cultures. This seminar provides attendees a practical approach to modern
decision-making metrics using multinational risk management techniques
and project valuation methods. The Seminar offers a broad decision-making
perspective by assisting attendees to develop problem solving and functional
skills necessary to evaluate international projects and other foreign
direct investments. Several risk management tools will be explained,
as well as international project evaluation methods.

Course
Overview
The Seminar is an intensive two-day course of study based on the premise
that individuals learn most effectively through an analysis of realistic
case studies and business situations. Through a sequence of lectures
and case studies followed by discussion, attendees embrace the foundations
of international business. Attendees will be able to address their own
"real world" projects by applying the concepts learned.

DAY ONE
- Present an overview of
the global financial environment.
- Address the goals of the
multinational company and the reasons for international investment
and financing.
- Define International financial markets.
- Define relationships between
inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates.
- Explain exchange rate
Risk Management techniques.
- Explore international
arbitrage and interest rate parity.
- Apply concepts using international
cases
DAY TWO
- Forecasting exchange rates.
- Measuring exposure to
exchange rate movements.
- Managing transaction exposure,
translation exposure, and economic exposure.
- Financing international
trade. Applied case studies.
- Direct Foreign Investment,
Multinational Capital Budgeting, Cost of Capital, and Capital Structure.
- Several case studies are
reviewed to highlight the concepts. Valuation techniques including,
but not limited to IRR, NPV and APV are applied to international projects.
- A review of international
taxation systems.
Course
Instructor - Dr. Frank Moseley
Dr. Moseley earned his Ph.D. in Mineral Economics with a major in Business
Strategy and Finance from the Colorado School of Mines. Dr. Moseley
has a M.B.A. and M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech and the
University of Houston, respectively.
Dr. Moseley graduated from
the Advanced Management Program at Wharton and a Real Options Program
at Stanford University.
Dr. Moseley has numerous
years of international business experience with multi-national energy
companies including, but not limited to the North Sea, Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait, and Australia. He has specialized in the areas of management,
finance, and economics for offshore and onshore projects within the
energy markets. He was chairman of an international oil services company
and served as a board director in the public and private sector for
various petroleum
companies.
Registration
Information
This two-day seminar will be held November 12-13 from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. each day.
The Seminar fee of $1,750
must be paid in advance in U.S. dollars. The registration fee will be
discounted by $100 if payment is received 30 days in advance of the
course. The fee includes continental breakfast and lunch for two days,
tuition, and a notebook of the lecture materials. Space is limited and
early registration is encouraged.
The sponsor reserves the
right to cancel the course and return all registration fees if enrollment
is insufficient. Cancellations will be charged a $150 service fee.
No refunds will be made to participants who fail to substitute or cancel
at least 10 working days before the start of the Seminar. Registrants
are responsible for their own lodging, meals, and travel arrangements.
