Electrical Qualification
Test Preparation

This course is temporarily suspended while the curriculum is under revision.

This course is designed to prepare students for taking the CMS&H electrical qualification tests. A prerequisite for this course is MSHA approved eligibility for qualification.

This course will be provided for both Underground and Surface Qualification.

Course content will concentrate on Federal Law (30 CFR Parts 75 and 77 electrical sections and Part 18) as well as the 1968 and latest NECs. Students will be required to participate in the design of motor control circuits and substation setup. MSHA will administer the certification test after the course for those requesting it in advance.

  • NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, 1968 and the latest
    30 CFR 75.500 thru 75.1003-2 and
    Part 18 and 30 CFR 77.500 thru 77.906
