Voltage Drop |
This course is temporarily suspended while the curriculum is under revision.
To properly protect personnel as well as equipment, short circuit analysis
and voltage drop calculations are imperative. Too great of a voltage drop is
detrimental to the equipment's life and improper short circuit protection can
lead to costly fires. In some cases, an improperly selected protective device
can be a "bomb." It will also be seen that quite often proper voltage
drop and short circuit settings go hand in hand. Students will leave this course
equipped with the knowledge to perform short circuit analyses and voltage drops.
Basic knowledge of the components of an electrical distribution system is
a must for this course. Students will be required to perform calculations using
trigonometric functions.
