Frequently Asked Questions

When was the search committee formed?

Full membership of the search committee was announced November 2014. The search committee includes representation from Mines faculty, staff, alumni, the CSM Foundation, and the Mines Board of Trustees.

Will there be any information sessions?

The board of trustees held forums to hear input on desired qualities and characteristics of the next Mines president November 20-21, 2014. Upcoming information sessions will be announced at mines.edu/presidentsearch.

How can I submit suggestions or a candidate for consideration?

The search consultants at Witt/Kieffer developed a survey for the Mines community to gather input as part of the recruitment of the next president. The board of trustees is looking for participation from a broad cross section of the Mines community, and seeking suggestions in this important part of the process. The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/s/CSMPresident.

How can I follow the progress of the search?

The search committee is committed to conducting a thorough and comprehensive search process. The committee’s progress toward selecting the Mines president may be tracked via updates and news postings at mines.edu/presidentsearch.

When will the final decision be made?

The search goal is to name a new president named prior to commencement on May 8, 2015. While the search committee and the board will work hard over the next several months to meet that target, the primary goal will be to select the right candidate who demonstrates the necessary leadership skills, experience and vision to help Colorado School of Mines fulfill its ambitious aspirations.
