Head Softball Coach
Annie Van Wetzinga
Annie Van Wetzinga begins her second season as the head softball coach at Colorado School of Mines in 2009.
During her first season at CSM in 2008, Van Wetzinga led the Orediggers to a single-season program record 38 victories, shattering the previous mark of 25 that was set in 2007. Van Wetzinga went on to be named RMAC Coach of the Year in 2008 after guiding Mines to the RMAC Regular-Season Championship. CSM posted a 27-11 record in conference play and earned the right to host the 2008 RMAC Tournament at the CSM Softball Field in Golden. Seven Orediggers garnered recognition on the 2008 All-RMAC teams, including Gina Ross and Katie Kocman, who brought home First Team All-RMAC honors. Even more, Sarah Van Lingen, a Second Team All-RMAC selection, was named the 2008 RMAC Freshman of the Year.
Prior to her arrival in Golden, Van Wetzinga spent the past two years (2006 and 2007) as an assistant coach at Indiana State University. Van Wetzinga was also an assistant coach at St. Ambrose University in 2003.
A graduate of Central College in Iowa, Van Wetzinga was selected as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) NCAA Division III Catcher of the Year as a senior in 2001. Van Wetzinga, who led the Dutch to a national runner-up finish in 2001, was a three-time All-Conference, four-time All-Region and two-time All-American selection during her playing days at Central.
