Mission Statement
The mission of the CSM Creative Art's Club is to
demonstrate to the community how creativity, technology
and science can and must be intrgrated to aid
technological process. We shall do this by offering students
and community members ways to express their creativity in
numerous ways
Who we are and what we do
CAC was formed in 2003 to offer a creative outlet
for students interested in the arts. Since then we have
held many fun activities and created some lasting works
of art on the campus and continue to do so. CAC is free
and open to any student no matter what your skill level
or interest, wether it be painting, sculpture, music, or
whatever you consider to be art.
So that we do not bore you, from no on we will not
hold regular meetings, but rather one big and fun
informational meeting in the beginning of the semester,
and from then on keep you updated on all the activities
through campus ads, email, and this website. The following
are some reasons why you should join:
- Hold monthly activities such as museum trips,
gallery openings, see local music, and other fun,
creative events.
- Offer an atmosphere where creative minds can
converse and exchange their opinions and ideas.
- Carry out projects that improve the campus
and expand artistic communities at Mines.
- All members receive free membership to
Foothills Art Center.
- Members get discouns and free stuff at different
art events.
To join and be added to our mailing list, send an email
to sgardine@mines.edu

How You Can help
As some of us older members begin to graduate, we are
going to need new members to continue the club. If you would
like to help keep the arts alive at Mines, contact one of
the officers and they will show you everything you need to
know to keep the club and art shows up and running in the
comming years!
Library Art Shows
"Ignited Visions" is the title of the art show held each
semester in Arthur Lakes Library. It features the work of
CSM students, faculty and staff. Submissions can be almost
any medium, not extermely large due to the lack of space
(less than 6?x6?, roughly) and should be appropriate for
public display (use your best judgment, remember what
school we go too?). To submit work for the next show,
please see the dates and deadlines below.
Submissions
If you would like to submit, the following requirements apply:
- You must be a CSM student, faculty member, or employee
- Works to be hung MUST be framed and already have ALL appropriate hardware attached
- If your work is accepted you must sign a liability waiver releasing CAC and Arthur
Lakes Library from responsibility for any damages received during the duration of the show.
- You may submit more than one peice, any media!
Please email a photo of your work with the title, media, and dimensions
as well as if you are a student, faculty, etc, and any thing else you would like to share as your
major or department, to sgarding@mines.edu.
Deadline for Photo Submissions is Friday, Janurary 27th at 5:00 PM
If your work is selected, please fill out the waiver form (linked above), and bring your pieces
to the front desk in the library.
Deadline to turn in work is Friday, February 17th
Reception
For each show we hold a reception for the opening of the show. There
is food, drinks, and music. Everyone is invited and will be Wednesday,
March 8th from 4-5:50 in Boettcher Room of the LIbrary.
Other Dates:
We will be handing artwork the week of Feb. 27 and always need help,
so if you are interested in helping, please contact Serena or Lydia.
Deadlines for artists to pick up work at the end of the semester is Friday,
May 5th (Dead Day).

Past Activities
These are some of the spectacular things that we have done in the past!
Steinhauer Fieldhouse Mural: GIGANTIC "Orediggers" painted in blue,
black and silver on North wall of the fieldhouse. Completed May 2004.
Hall of Justice 3D Mural: Large 3D mural hanging in the main corridor of
Hall of Justice. It signifies mans conflict with and reliance on technology
and nature. Completed December 2003.
Library Art Shows
The first of its kind, each semester Arthur Lakes Library holds an art
exhibit featuring the art of students, faculty and staff. The first began
in Fall of 2003. Click here for current show information.
Denver Art Museum
In January 2004 we went to DAM to see a special exhibit featuring the
works of Picasso, Renoir, Monet, and dozens of other art masters, as well
as the rest of the museums permanent collection.
Edays Fun
For the past 2 years we?ve hosted fun activities during Edays. Last
years activity was a ?dartboard? with paint filled balloons attached
to it. And candy, always lots of candy.
Homecoming face painting
Past years we?ve done face painting for the Homecoming football games.
