As with any program or school that you look at, you will want to know not only goals and records, but what an average day will be like and how the people act. This gives you a little taste:
What you'll need to know... |
 |
|
School of Mines: It is a great school with great people. Everyone knows each other's name and the professors are wonderfully helpful. You shouldn't have any trouble here. (Let me guess:) In high school, you procrastinated with every other project you had to do, you never did your math homework and "aced" the tests, you played lacrosse and didn't get TOO involved after that, because hey- there's only so much you can do. Maybe you were a boyscout. Maybe you were really involved with your church! Whatever the case, life was a breeze.
Well, the wind is about to pick up into a tornado. There's organization in the chaos, so you can get it done, but it will take commitment. You have to get used to it early on and will do great. When your parents call and ask how things are going, you'll say, "Fine," because you don't want to mention that you're struggling. Trust me- its all fine indeed. After all that, add a lacrosse season. |

Mines Lacrosse: We are a dedicated and progressing team. We have strong leadership, but are open to suggestion. We know our stuff, but want new ideas. We love the sport, but we also have lives. The team is a commitment, but we don't want you to flunk out of school.
Every man on the team knows each other and helps out with school/family/rides/freetime. We want every man on the team to succeed not only on the field and in school, but in life as a good person. If you show that you REALLY WANT to be out on the field and work hard to prove it, you'll succeed in more than you know. |
The Facts: For general team history stuff, click on the History link to the left, but here's some of the facts and figures you might want to know.
- For the past four years, the team has had a better winning record each season.
- The team does a lot of fundraising. (Poker Tournament, King Soopers Tickets, DU Tickets, Team Gear)
- Commitment off season: two practices a week and weekend games for 5-7 weeks in the fall.
- Commitment in season: four or five practices a week with weekend and weekday games all spring.
- We are an MCLA Club B team with school support. (We are not a Varsity sport)
- Cost: Around $200-$400 depending on the year and how much individual fundraising you accomplish.
- If the cost is too high, we offer solutions.
- Team gear is available, however; your own stick, helmet and gloves are recommended.
- The team is student run.
- All levels of skill are welcome.
