Mines came out against Colorado University strong on Wednesday for an early lead of 1-0, 30 seconds into the game. After a breif 4 minute defensive run, CU sneaked a goal in from outside and Mines was on the run much of the rest of the game. At the end of the first, CU had a 5-1 lead.
In the second, CU, again, scored four more goals ending the half at 9-1.
In the second half, Mines came out with a sense of renewal and started playing smart offense as well as defense. The third quarter ended 11-2.
In the fourth, each team scored one goal for a 12-3 final score. Being down and with nothing to loose, Mines tried out a few new plays on offense and defense with a series of successful lock-offs to regain posession near the end.
Thanks to CU for inviting Mines to a good game so both teams could get some more field experience as we enter the season.
