In their first of two road games, Mines came out of Albaquerque with a solid 11-7 win over the University of New Mexico. Slow to start, and with only one ref, the game got chippy at times, but overall was a success as every player on the field was there for the respect of the game.
In the first quarter, UNM put the only goal on the board ending at 1-0.
In the second, UNM put up two steady goals again as they had some pretty good shots sneak by Goalie Mike Stone. Finally with some sense knocked into the team, Mines came out of a time out and scored three goals in 6 minutes ending the half 3-3.
In the third and again in the fourth quarter, Mines outscored UNM 4-2. The game ended 11-7.
Thanks to UNM for having us and good luck with your season.
