Company C-9

The History of C-9
Company C-9 was founded at the Colorado School of Mines in January of 1951 as Company L-6. Company L-6 was renamed C-9 when the regiments were reassigned. On March 31, 1954 a P/R Rifle Team was formed and competed in nationwide drill meets earning several trophies. During the 1960's, before Pathfinders was established at CSM, Pershing Rifles had a Ranger Division which held many maneuvers and several public exhibitions of their military proficiency, including a winter bivouac in January of 1966, and a rope-climbing demonstration in 1968.
During the Vietnam war Pershing Rifles activities became less popular, just as the military did. Currently C-9 is rebuilding, from little to no activity within the past decade. Pledge semesters have been conducted in the Spring for the past few years and are steadily increasing in size. The goal of the active members is to have Company C-9 back in strength and numbers, resembling the Company when it was first established. In the 1950's the pledge class was approximately 130 plebes, with about 15 of the plebes becoming active members.
