High Grade is a high quality, full color, perfect bound journal that publishes the creative work of CSM students, faculty, and staff.
The 2006 edition of High Grade is available at the Student Center, Arthur Lakes Library, campus bookstore, and the Division of Liberal Arts and International Studies, located in Stratton Hall 301, as well as other campus locations. It was also distributed at the Celebration of Mines. If you have not seen the current issue, we encourage you to pick one up soon.
History
And so it began over quesadillas and cheesecake, I found three imaginative students who wanted to make language and art at Mines. Then, we recruited a fine staff and brought more voices together. On an afternoon in Chauvenet 271, we read poetry out loud, listening carefully to the images fill the room. We traveled under metaphors through stories and real-life, via words and charcoals, oils and inks. I want to thank the High Grade staff; I am in awe of your diligence and passion for bringing this to the community. And to all of our phenomenal contributors, thanks for letting us!
Ruth Hanmy checks and balances, who wouldnt let me vote twice, I salute your integrity. These pages would not be here without you. Carmen Sorensenour printing company translator and in-house dreamer, keep that incredible imagination running. Millicent Schmidtyour energy and excitement binds this book together. Thank you for sharing your stale bread and endlessly creative spirit with me.
High Grade thanks the Board of Publications for their confidence & encouragement and to ASCSM for their leap of faith and financial support.
Special thanks to Dr. Arthur Sacks and the Liberal Arts and International Studies Program for their commitment to this project and giving us a space in Chauvenet to create.
Finally, for this inheritanceJohn Hogan, I cant thank you enough for asking me...
