Risk Management

The purpose of Recreational Sports is to offer a full range of sports activities and fitness opportunities for members of the campus community. The Recreational Sports program includes several activities that may be physically demanding and may be potentially hazardous for some participants. It is strongly recommended that all participants undergo a routine physical exam by a physician before commencing participation in any program requiring physical endurance.

All users of the Student Recreation Center are strongly encouraged to obtain their own health insurance coverage. CSM does not provide Recreational Sports participants insurance coverage and does not take responsibility for medical costs incurred as a direct or indirect result of participation in recreational activities.

Each individual participating in recreational sports activities assumes the responsibility for his or her health and safety. Those who have had previous injuries that may reoccur, or who are not physically suited to a particular activity, are urged to reconsider their participation for safety reasons.

The Colorado School of Mines and the Recreational Sports Office assume no responsibility for personal injuries incurred during or as the result of participation in sponsored activities.
