Preview Mines, Visit Days for Prospective Students

Preview Mines, a visitation program for prospective students, is held twice a year in the fall semester. Tour the campus,visit with faculty, see the Residence Halls and meet with representatives from admissions, financial aid, athletics and other departments. Best of all, meet Mines students and hear what they have to say.

Discover Mines, a visitation program for accepted students, is held twice a year in the spring semester, by invitation. In addition to the program options for Preview Mines, Discover Mines also offers break-out sessions for you and your parents. We know how important your college choice is, so you’ll have the chance to ask questions about student life, academics, financial assistance and more. It is an ideal time to become more familiar with Colorado School of Mines, our students and our faculty.

Group Tours

The Colorado School of Mines tour program is designed for private or semi-private tours with prospective high school students and their parents or high school counselors. Group tours of our campus may be available for high school students and teachers on a limited basis. Groups may include a maximum of 30 students, with one adult chaperone for every ten students. Group tours may be requested for Tuesday or Thursday only, excluding the following months: October, November, March, and April. No tours are available during the week of final exams or during university holidays or special programs.

The group tour consists of a one-hour walking tour of the Mines campus. Due to current space restrictions on campus, advising sessions may not be available. Students who wish to participate in an advising session should schedule a private visit to campus using our online request form above.

To request a visit for a high school group, please call 303.273.3220. You may also email a request to admit@mines.edu. We will need the following information: contact person, name of organization or high school, phone number, email address, number of students, grade level (i.e. sophomores, juniors, seniors), transportation information (car or bus), date you would like to visit, preference for morning or afternoon visit.
Lunch is not provided, but may be purchased in our food court or Slate Cafe with proper arrangements, one week in advance. Please include your interest to purchase lunch with your request.
Email confirmations will include information and directions for parking on campus, tour etiquette, suggested questions for tour guides and campus dining information.
