CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO CSU-PUEBLO, 65-54, IN
RMAC SHOOTOUT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

PUEBLO, Colo. - The eighth-seeded Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team saw its magical run come to an end with a 65-54 setback to sixth-seeded Colorado State-Pueblo in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference SHOOTOUT Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair and Events Center.

CSM, the first No. 8 seed to win a game in the RMAC Tournament, finishes its season at 16-14 overall, while CSU-Pueblo earned the automatic berth from the RMAC to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The Orediggers were led by senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) who totaled 25 points and 12 rebounds and set the CSM single season record for points and the CSM career record for field goals made. Junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) added 11 points and six boards for CSM.

Both Gronewoller and Tomova were named to the All-Tournament Team.

CSU-Pueblo (19-11) was led by Tournament MVP Lauren Westerman who tallied 18 points and seven boards.

CSM WOMEN'S HOOPS ADVANCES TO RMAC SHOOTOUT FINALS
WITH 67-61 WIN OVER NEBRASKA-KEARNEY

PUEBLO, Colo. - The eighth-seeded Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team advanced to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference SHOOTOUT Finals with a 67-61 win over fourth-seeded Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair and Events Center.

CSM (16-13) will play sixth-seeded CSU-Pueblo at 2:00 pm in Pueblo for the RMAC SHOOTOUT Championship. The Thunderwolves advanced with a win over second-seeded Fort Lewis in Saturday's other semifinal.

The Orediggers were led by junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) who scored a game-best 21 points and added three assists. Senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) recorded 16 points and nine boards, while junior center Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranatha) added 14 points and eight rebounds.

UNK (21-8) was led by Liz Fischer who scored 17 points and Kalee Modlin who tallied 10.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL UPSETS NO. 1 REGIS, 71-57, IN RMAC SHOOTOUT QUARTERFINALS

DENVER, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) posted 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the eighth seeded Orediggers to a 71-57 upset of top-seeded Regis in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout Quarterfinals Wednesday night at Regis Fieldhouse.

It is the first time in the 14-year history of the RMAC Tournament that a No. 8 seed knocked off a No. 1 seed in either the men's or women's tournament.

The win was the first in program history in the RMAC Tournament and advances CSM to the semifinals where they will take on fourth-seeded Nebraska-Kearney at 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo, Colo. The Lopers advanced with a 79-66 win at home over fifth-seeded Metro State.

CSM (15-13) junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) added 14 points and six boards, while junior center Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranatha) chipped in 12 points and four boards.

Regis (26-5) received 18 points and eight boards from Denise Lopez. The Rangers will now await word on a possible at-large NCAA Division II Tournament berth.

CSM Women's Basketball Team Falls in Overtime To Metro State 79-73

Golden, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team fell to The Metro State Roadrunners tonight, with a 79-73 decision in overtime.

After playing neck and neck the entire way through, Mines found itself up by two with only 23 seconds remaining. However, Metro State sent the game into overtime after scoring with six seconds left in regulation. In overtime, the Roadrunners scored first to take the lead 64-67 and never trailed again giving them a 79-73 victory over the Orediggers.

Mines was led by Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria, Northeastern J.C.) and Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs). Both ended the night with impressive stats. Tomova ended with 25 points and nine rebounds while Gronewoller had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) also found herself in double figures ending with 12 points.

Metro State had five players score in double figures as Paige Powers led the way with 21.

Tonight was the Orediggers last regular season game. Mines has qualified and will play in the RMAC Tournament with their first game on Wednesday night. Time and place is yet to be determined.

CSM Women's Basketball Team Falls to RMAC Leader, Regis University 75-54

Golden, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team lost to the number one team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Regis University Friday night 75-54.

After leading the Conference Leader 33-32 after the first half, Mines was looking to continue the pressure in the second, in hopes of an upset and a definate bid in the RMAC Tournament next month.

Mines was led by Bulgaria's Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) who finished the night with 23 points, 15 which were from three point range. Ashley Gronewoller also finished the night in double figures ending with 14 points, along with a team high eight rebounds.

Regis was unstoppable in the second half, as four players ended in double figures. Lindsay Viall led the way with 17 points while Aiste Slenyte finished with 16, Diana Lopez 14 and Denise Lopez with 11.

With the loss, Mines finds itself with a 14-12 overall record and 8-10 in the conference, while Regis improves to 25-4 and 17-1 in the RMAC. However, after other League games were played this evening it is a sure thing that Mines will be playing in the RMAC Tournament in March. Both Mesa and Western did exactly what Mines needed them to do, Mesa beat New Mexico Highlands and Western State lost.

Mines will return to action tomorrow night with a 6:00 pm game against Metro State at Volk Gymnasium.

CSM Women's Basketball Team Loses Much Needed Win to Nebraska-Kearney, 59-53

Golden, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team lost what was a much needed win Saturday night to The University of Nebraska-Kearney 59-3.

In what was a hard fought battle the entire way through, the Orediggers watched a possible win slip away in the last seconds of the game. A heartbreaker is what it could be called, as the Orediggers had the Lopers within two before referee calls put the Lopers up by seven with only nine seconds remaining.

Mines was highlighted by Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) who broke yet another school record. After breaking the record for most career rebounds earlier this season, Gronewoller broke the record for most career points, ending the night with 17 and 1,364 in her career. Gronewoller broke Kelly Hadley's record of 1,349. She also added 12 rebounds to her record breaking night.

Also scoring in double figures for the Orediggers were Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) who had 13 points along with seven rebounds, and Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/ Northeastern J.C.) who had 11.

The Lopers were led by Liz Fischers 17 points.

CSM will return to action next weekend with their last two regular season games. Game times are on Friday and Saturday at 6:00 pm at Volk Gymnasium.

CSM Women's Hoops Wins Against Colorado Christian, 51-39

Golden, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team defeated The Colorado Christian Cougars Tuesday night with a 51- 39 victory.

Three Orediggers ended the night scoring in double figures. Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) led the way with 12 points and a team high 13 rebounds. Liz Jeffries (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) added 11 points and four steals while Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) chipped in 10 points.

Gronewoller is closing in quickly on the school record for most career points. She only needs three more points to break Kelly Hadley's record of 1,349.

Christian was led by Sara Davis's 10 points and six rebounds.

With the win, Mines' record improved to 14-10 overall and 8-8 in the conference. The Orediggers return to action Saturday night with a home game against Nebraska-Kearney, start time is at 6:00 pm.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT FORT HAYS, 66-57

HAYS, Kan. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team dropped a 66-57 decision at Fort Hays State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Saturday night at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

CSM fell to 13-10 overall (7-8 RMAC), while the Tigers moved to 19-4 overall and 13-2 in conference play.

The Orediggers were led by junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) who scored a team-best 17 points and added six boards and four assists. Senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) tallied nine points and seven rebounds.

FHSU was led by a game-high 19 points from Crystal Harden, while Ashlee Gustin recorded 14 points and five boards.

CSM will return to action on Tuesday night when it travels to Colorado Christian for a 6:00 pm game.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS CHADRON STATE, 54-49

CHADRON, Neb. - Colorado School of Mines senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) tallied a double double with 13 points and a game-best 14 rebounds to lead the Orediggers to a 54-49 win at Chadron State Thursday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

Junior forward Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranatha) added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists in her first action after missing the last three games due to injury. Junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeaster JC) finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.

CSC (3-19, 2-12 RMAC) was led by Bec Kyba who registered 17 points and five rebounds.

The Orediggers (13-9, 7-7 RMAC) will return to action on Saturday night with a 6:00 pm game at Fort Hays State.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT KEARNEY, 75-45

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team fell to 12-9 overall and 6-7 in conference play with a 75-45 setback at Nebraska-Kearney in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Friday night at the Health & Sports Center.

CSM was led by junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) who scored 14 points and grabbed four boards. Senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) tallied 11 points and four blocked shots, while freshman forward Kelsey Crist (Buena Vista, Colo./Buena Vista) scored 10 points.

UNK (14-6, 9-3 RMAC) received 22 points and five boards from Liz Fischer, while Jade Meads chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds. Jonni Mildenberger and Kalee Modlin scored 10 points apiece.

The Orediggers will return to action on Thursday night when they travel to Chadron State for a 6:00 pm game.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS COLORADO CHRISTIAN 60-48

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team came away with a conference win tonight with a 60-48 win over Colorado Christian.

Mines had three players finish the night scoring in double figures. Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) finished the night with a double-double, ending with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Julie Marshall (Billings, Mont./Billings West) had 12 points, while junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) also reached double figures with 11.

The Cougars were led by Monica Chase who had 17 points while Sara Davis had a team high 10 rebounds.

Mines led most of the way, going into halftime up 33-19 they never looked back as they came away with another win infront of their home crowd.

Mines will be on the road this Friday with a 6:00 game against Nebraska-Kearney. The Lopers are currently fourth in the East Division with an 8-3 RMAC record, just one spot infront of the Orediggers who are now 6-6 in the conference.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCORES A 67-54 VICTORY
OVER
CHADRON STATE

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team came up with a decisive 67-54 victory over Chadron State College Friday night at Volk Gymnasium.

After leading 38-24 going into half, Mines continued pressure in the second ending the game on top 67-54.

After breaking the school record the night before for most career rebounds, senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) continued to add to her career stats, leading the Orediggers with 22 points and five rebounds on the night.

Also having a big game was sophomore Liz Jeffries (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County). Jeffries shot 4-5 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from three, giving her 14 points on the night.

Chadron State was led by Bec Kyba's 17 points and seven rebounds.

Mines improves to 11-8 overall and 5-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while Chadron falls to 3-16 overall and 2-9 in the RMAC.

Mines will return to action Tuesday night with a home game against Colorado Christian at 6:00 pm.

FORT HAYS TOPS CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM 52-39
WITH SECOND HALF SURGE

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team watched their hopes of a win against Fort Hays State slip away in the second half being outscored 35-22. After a tied first half 17-17, Mines couldn't get any luck on their side as Hays was able to rally, beating the Orediggers 52-39.

Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) made school history Friday night, as she broke the school record for most career rebounds. Ending with eight rebounds on the night, Gronewoller broke Jamie Frisch's record of 772 with 773 rebounds. With nine games left, her record will continue to grow.

The Orediggers were also led by redshirt freshman Sara Eickelman (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East), Eickelman ended with a team high 14 points and added three rebounds.

Fort Hays was led by Crystal Harden's 14 points.

Mines drops to a 10-8 overall record and 4-6 in the conference, which puts them fifth in the East Division, while Fort Hays is now 14-3 on the season and 9-1 in the conference, ranking them third in the division.

Mines will return to action tomorrow night with a home game against Chadron State at 6:00 pm.

Regis' Diana Lopez led all scorers with 28 points.

CSM (10-7, 4-5 RMAC) will return to action on Friday night when it hosts Fort Hays State at 6:00 pm in Volk Gym.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM STRUGGLES AGAINST METRO STATE FALLING 88-36

DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team was unable to pull an upset Friday night against the 11-4, 7-0 in the Conference, Roadrunners of Metro State. Mines fell to the Roadrunners 88-36.

Mines went into halftime down 41-22 and still were unable to get anything going offensively in the second, being outscored 47-14.

Metro was able to hold Mines' two leading scorers to single figures. Both Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) and Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Norhteastern J.C.) ended the night with only eight points which was the teams high. Freshman Kelsey Crist (Buena Vista, Colo./Buenaq Vista) lead the team with 11 rebounds.

Metro had four players end with double figure scoring games, while Stacey Cox led the way with 21.

Mines will return to action tonight with an away game against Regis University game time is at 5:30 pm.


CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COMES AWAY WITH 54-53 OVERTIME WIN

GOLDDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team held on to a 54-53 overtime win tonight at Volk Gymnasium against Colorado State University - Pueblo.

Mines Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) anchored her team ending the night with a double-double. Her 17 points and season high, 17 rebounds led the way for the Orediggers. Teamates Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) added 11 points while Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) had a team high nine assists and chipped in seven rebounds.

With a 38-28 lead with only nine minutes remaining in the game the Orediggers had a victory in sight. CSU believed differently as they went on an eight point scoring run, closing Mines' lead to two. With only two minutes remaining, a three pointer made by CSU's Kerry Lewis made the score 52-50. Tomova answered back with a jump shot, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, Mines went on to win with a basket by Pearson making the score 54-53.

The Thunderwolves were led by Lewis's 16 points while Kristin Heinl added 11 points and Karin Hansen with 10.

The win improves Mines' record to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the RMAC, while CSU drops to 8-7 and 3-4 in the RMAC.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS COLORADO COLLEGE, 72-57

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines junior forward Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranatha) tallied 13 points and five rebounds off the bench to lead the Orediggers to a 72-57 nonconference win at Colorado College Thursday night.

CSM (9-5) used a 13-4 run late in the first half to build a 33-23 halftime lead after trailing early, 10-2.

Junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern JC) added 11 points, six rebounds and five assists, while sophomore forward Liz Jeffries (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas Country) chipped in nine points and three rebounds.

CC (9-5) was led by Melanie Auguste who scored a game-most 17 points and added eight rebounds.

The Orediggers will return to action on Saturday when they host CSU-Pueblo at 6:00 pm in Volk Gym.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS SHORT TO
UC-COLORADO SPRINGS, 58-46

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team had its four game winning streak snapped Saturday night with a 58-46 setback to The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions.

UCCS' Stephanie Sauter was too much for the Orediggers as she led the Lions with her 17 points and seven steals.

With only three minutes left CSM trailed only by one, but with a drive to the basket and drawing a foul by Sauter, she increased the lead to 51-46. Mines was never able to get back as they fell short to the Mountain Lions.

Junior forward Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) had her second team leading game in a row, as she went on to score 18 points and added five rebounds. Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) ended the night with 17 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

Mines also had to play without this season's leading scorer, Iva Tomova who was out with an injury.

The Orediggers will return to action Thursday night when they travel to Colorado College for a 7:00 pm nonconference game.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CONTINUES WIN STREAK WITH WIN OVER N.M. HIGHLANDS 52-48

LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team continued their winning streak with their fourth straight victory Thursday night with a win over New Mexico Highlands 52-48.

Mines came away with the victory after top performances from three players, who ended in double figures. Junior Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) and Senior Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) led Mines with 16 points while Tomova also had five rebounds and Pearson had six. Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) also had a good night scoring in double figures with 12 points and added eight rebounds.

The Orediggers improved to 8-4 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. They will play the second of their road games this weekend tomorrow night, when they face The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs at 6:00 pm.


CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HANDS NEBRASKA-OMAHA THIRD LOSS OF THE SEASON WITH A 53-48 VICTORY

GOLDEN, Colo. - After beating the number 21 ranked team in Division II, Carson Newman last night, The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team handed The University of Nebraska-Omaha only its third loss of the season with a 53-48 victory over the Mavericks Friday afternoon.

After a close game the whole way through, the Orediggers were able to pull away in the last minutes of the game, finishing with a 53-48 win. The Orediggers were outscored 23-22 in the first half, but battled back in the second, outscoring their opponents 31-25. The win puts Mines at a 7-4 overall record while the Mavericks fell to 12-3.

For the second night in a row, Junior Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) led the way for Mines, ending with a season high of 26 points. The Mavericks were led by JJ Smith who ended the day with 14 points.

Next for Mines will come this weekend when they will be on the road January 5th and 7th with games against The University of New Mexico-Highlands and The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RETURN TO ACTION WITH 66-49 WIN OVER CARSON NEWMAN

GOLDEN, Colo. - After week break, the Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball returned to action Thursday afternoon with a 66-49 victory over Carson Newman.

The Orediggers had three players in double figures this afternoon as Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) led the team with 19 points. Freshman standout Kelsey Crist (Buena Vista, Colo./Buena Vista) ended the day with 12, while Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) added 10.

Mines controlled most of the game only trailing once, early in the first half. Going into half, the Orediggers had a 19 point lead, with a score 32-13. The second half was more evenly played as the Eagles pushed for a comeback outscoring the Orediggers 36-34. The first half deficit was too much for the Eagles, as the Orediggers held on to a 66-49 victory.

Mines will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they will play the second day of The Colorado School of Mines Holiday Classic Tournament, where they will face Nebraska-Omaha, game time is at 3:00 pm.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCORES A VICTORY OVER ADAMS STATE 63-41

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team came away with a 63-41 victory over Adams State tonight, sending them into the holiday break on a winning note.

Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) and Junior Iva Tomova (Varna Bulgaria, Northeastern J.C.) led the Orediggers for the second night in a row, as both finished the night scoring in double figures.

Gronewoller led the way with 23 points and added six rebounds and four assists, while Tomova ended the night with 12 points and a team high, eight rebounds.

Adams State's Isil Ozkan (Istanbul, Turkey/Northeastern J.C.) led the Grizzlies with 13 points and four assists.

The Orediggers will now have a week break for the holidays and will return to action on December 29 and 30 when they host the Colorado School of Mines Holiday Tournament. Both games are at 3:00 pm.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO FORT LEWIS 74-64

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team fell short Friday night, with a 74-64 setback to the Fort Lewis Skyhawks.

After trailing 40-32 at half, Mines came out in hopes of a second half comeback. The second half still proved to be all Fort Lewis, as the Skyhawks jumped out to a nineteen point lead just five minutes into the half. The Orediggers never gave up as they went on to out score their opponents 20-8 closing the gap at one point to 59-65 with four minutes to play. It wasnt enough however, as the Skyhawks were able to hold onto a 10 point victory.

The Orediggers were led by Junior Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria, Northeastern J.C.) who had 21 points and Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) who finished the night with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Senior Amie Moulton (Chandler, Ariz./Dobson) led the Skyhawks with 21 points six rebounds and five assists.

The Orediggers return to action tomorrow night where they will face the Adams State Grizzlies at 6:00 pm at Volk Gymnasium.


CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SPLITS RMAC ROAD OPENERS

GUNNISON, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines Women's basketball team opened up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this weekend with road games against Mesa State and Western State on Friday and Saturday night.

CSM dropped its first game against Mesa on Friday night, 79-59. The Orediggers were able to bounce back on Saturday night with a 63-43 win over Western State.

Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) tallied a career high 30 points and added 14 rebounds against Western, while junior forward Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) led the way Friday with a team high 16 points.

Next for Mines will be this weekend when they host Fort Lewis and Adams State on Friday and Saturday. Games are set for 6:00 pm.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COMES UP WITH WIN
AGAINST CORNELL COLLEGE, 64-40

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team won the second of their two home tournament games this afternoon, beating Division III Cornell College 64-40.

After going into half just six points ahead, the Orediggers game out strong, outscoring Cornell 34-16 in the second half.

Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) led the way for the second day in a row with another double-double game. She ended the day with 14 points and a season high of 11 rebounds.

Also scoring in double figures for the Orediggers was junior Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria, Northeastern J.C.) with 13 points and freshman Julie Marshall (Billings, Mont./Billings West) who also had 13.

Mines will be on the road this upcoming weekend as they will travel to Grand Junction to face Mesa State on Friday night and to Gunnsion on Saturday, where they will take on Western State. These two games will be the first conference games this season and both begin at 6:00 pm..

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS BUENA VISTA 93-75

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team came up with a win over Buena Vista tonight, 93-75, with the help of five players scoring in double figures.

Senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) and junior Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranath) led the way for Mines as each ended the night with double-doubles. Gronewoller finished with a season high, 24 points and added 10 rebounds while Pearson also had a season high of 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Also finishing the night with double figures was junior Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) who had 19 points, sophomore Liz Jeffries (Castle Rock,Colo./Douglas County) with 11 points and freshman Kelsey Crist (Buena Vista,Colo./Buena Vista) with 12 points.

Next for the Orediggers will be tomorrow afternoon where they will face the Division III Cornell College Beavers. Game time is at 1:00 pm.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT NORTHERN STATE, 92-62

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team fell at Northern State, 92-62, in the second day of the Super 8/Northern Classic on Saturday night.

CSM (1-2) a team-best 14 points from redshirt freshman guard Sara Eickelman (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East). Senior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) added 12 points, four assists and six rebounds, while junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) added 13 markers.

Northern State's Ali Chmielewski scored a game-best 21 points and added seven boards.

CSM will return to action on Dec. 3 when it hosts Buena Vista at 6:00 pm in Volk Gym.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO WAYNE STATE, 76-37

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team fell to Wayne State (Neb.), 76-37, in the firsy day of the Super 8/Northern Classic at Northern State on Friday night.

CSM (1-1), trailed 36-16 at the half and was led by junior guard Iva Tomova (Varna, Bulgaria/Northeastern J.C.) who scored a team-high 12 points.

WSC (1-0) was led by Ashley Arndorfer who tallied 16 points and Kristen Humphries who scored 14.

CSM will play Northern State on Saturday at 8:00 pm in day two of the Classic.

CSM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS JOHNSON AND WALES 98-24

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team opened up their season Tuesday night at Volk Gymnasium with a decisive 98-24 win over Johnson and Wales.

The Orediggers were led by senior Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) who finished the night with 17 points nine rebounds and four assists. Four other players scored in double figures including Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranatha) who had 14 points and a game hight of 10 rebounds.

Sasahlyn Cook led the Wildcats with nine points and three rebounds.

Mines will return to action Friday November 18 against Wayne State at the Northern State Classic game time is at 2:00 pm.
