Department of Chemistry & Geochemistry

Chemistry provides fundamental knowledge critical to satisfying many of society's needs: feeding and clothing and housing the world's people, finding and using sources of energy, improving health care, ensuring national security, and protecting the environment. The programs of the Chemistry and Geochemistry Department are designed to educate professionals for the varied career opportunities this central scientific discipline affords.

The Department of Chemistry and Geochemistry offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program with a choice of focus in AppliedChemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry or Geochemistry. Graduate degrees in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry include Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. The Department also offers Master of Science, Professional Master's and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Geochemistry through a program administered jointly by the Department of Chemistry & Geochemistry and the Department of Geology and Geologic Engineering. Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are also offered in Materials Science, Hydrological Sciences and Engineering through interdisciplinary graduate programs.
