Important changes from the previous Webmail version.

Please read the following since it deals with possible loss of stored e-mail.

*) Deleted messages, by default, are now moved to the "trash" folder instead of being marked as deleted. When a message is deleted from the Inbox in the new Webmail, the message is copied to the trash folder, marked as deleted, and finally the Inbox is purged. The end result is that the original message is placed in the "trash" folder. Any messages in your Inbox marked as deleted prior to deleting a message in the new Webmail WILL BE PURGED from the system. This behavior has changed from the previous Webmail. In the previous Webmail, the message was only marked as deleted and the inbox was not purged. You will still need to purge your messages from the trash folder. This can be done by clicking on the Purge icon on the top menu bar.

*) Due to fundamental differences in the new Webmail system, blacklists and whitelists will not be migrated.

*) If you have blacklists listed within the new Webmail system, the following steps are performed. Filters are ran in order that they are listed within your existing rules. By default, filters are applied in this order: Whitelists, blacklists, then any custom rules. If your blacklist filter is triggered, the following will occur: The message triggering the blacklist rule will be marked as deleted and a purge action will be run against your Inbox. Any previous message marked as deleted in your Inbox will be permanently removed from the system.

We strongly suggest that with the default configuration that you only use the new Webmail to access your e-mail. If you must use more than one e-mail client, please read the section here on how to configure the new Webmail to be used with other IMAP clients.

After you have read and understand the important operational differences with the new Webmail and are ready to proceed, you can access the new system using this address: https://webmail.mines.edu.
