Sending email using Netscape 7.2, Mozilla Mail, or Thunderbird from off campus using vpn.mines.edu
This Tutorial assumes that you have Netscape 7.2, Mozilla Mail, or Thunderbird set up to receive Mines email from off campus.

In the mail portion of Netscape 7.2 or Mozilla or in Thunderbird select Edit -> Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings as in Figure 1.

Click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", you should see a screen that looks like Figure 2.

Set up your settings according to the red areas:
- Server Name: vpn.mines.edu
- Port: 988
- Check Use name and password
- User Name: your e-mail username, if your e-mail was jdoe@mines.edu, this would be jdoe
- Click on TLS for "Use secure connection"

Click OK and you should be able to compose a message, click send, and authenticate with your slate password.
