Sending email using Outlook Express 6.0 from off campus using vpn.mines.edu

This Tutorial assumes that you have Outlook Express set up to receive Mines email from off campus.

Open Outlook Express and select Tools -> Accounts as in Figure 1.

Click on the "Mail" tab, select your Mines mail account and select properties on the right as in Figure 2.

Select the "Servers" tab

- Type "vpn.mines.edu" into "Outgoing mail (SMTP):"
- Type your username into "Account name:", for example if your e-mail address is jdoe@mines.edu, type jdoe.
- Check the box next to "My server requires authentication"

Select the "Advanced" tab

- Type 988 into "Outgoing mail (SMTP):"
- Check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
