How to Connect Devices Which do Not Have a Web Browser to the CSM Network
When registering your device for DHCP, you will need to provide us with the MAC address (also known as a "physical address") of your network device. How to find out your MAC address varies with the device you are trying to connect to the network. Instructions for a variety of platforms are located below. Once you have determined the MAC address of the device you are trying to connect to the network, you will need to go to a computer with a web browser and provide that MAC address when completing the DHCP registration form.
Directions for Registering Your XBox® on CSM ResNet
- Begin by starting your XBox® without a game disk.
- From the Dashboard screen, choose "Settings"
- Then click on "Network Settings"
- Your MAC address will be located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. It is 12 digits long and composed of letters and numbers.
- Once you have found the MAC address, you will need to use it to fill out the DHCP registration form located here. You will need to use a web browser on a computer located in a residence hall to do this.
Directions for Registering Your XBox 360® on CSM ResNet

Directions for Registering Your PlayStation2® on CSM ResNet
- Un-plug the system from the network (if it is currently connected.)
- Start the system with the Start-Up CD installed.
- Step through the setup process until you have completed the network test. The test should fail because the network cable is disconnected.
- If you then press the "select" button, you will be taken to a screen which shows your system's 12-digit MAC address. Please write down the MAC address.
- Now, using a web browser on a computer located in a residence hall, fill out the DHCP registration form located here. Use the MAC address you just found, when prompted.
