The general campus modem pool provides access to the campus network and is available to all CSM community members who have an active AC&N account. There is no charge to use the modem pool.
The modem pool telephone number is (303) 590-0010. Please remember that 10 digit dialing is required in the Denver metropolitan area. If you subscribe to call waiting, be sure to suspend it as part of your dial-up initialization process.
Commercial or business use of the modem pool or any other CSM computing or network resource is prohibited. You may not use the CSM modem pool to do work for any entity (other than CSM) as a consultant or employee. If you need this type of access you should contract with a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP).
You may not provide network access to others including family members or friends via CSM's modem pool or other resources.
Please note there are a limited number of modems and the pool gets very busy at certain times of the day (evenings) and at specific times during the semester.
The Computing Center reserves the right to limit connect time to the modem pool on a per session or daily basis.
The modem pool contains 46 lines. All modems are 56k V.90 compliant.
This modem pool is provided primarily for students who live off campus. If you live in a residence hall, Mines Park, or certain fraternity houses, you should connect directly to the campus wired or wireless ethernet network. You can purchase 10/100 BaseT network interface cards at area retailers or possibly from students who have moved off campus.
If you require extensive connect time, high speed access, or access to the Internet for other than CSM-related purposes, we suggest you contract with a commercial ISP. For high-speed access, Comcast offers cable modem service within Golden and most parts of the Denver metro area. Qwest offers ADSL services in most parts of the Denver metro area including Golden. Many other national and regional ISPs offer traditional access services in the Denver metro area.

If your modem connection has been deactivated due to a computer virus, and you have taken the appropriate steps to disinfect your computer, you can request to have your Connection Re-activated.
