All of the following resources and services are provided or made available by Academic Computing & Networking to the Mines academic community. Networking and Network Security are essential infrastructure managed for the entire campus by Academic Computing & Networking. Other services listed in the enterprise section below are available to the entire campus community while services in the academic community section may be available to the broader campus community on an incidental basis. Select one of the links below or use the links to the left when navigating throughout the Services section of the Academic Computing & Networking website.
Enterprise responsibilities and services offered or available to the entire campus community include
- Campus e-Classifieds System
- Available to on-campus, modem, and VPN users only. Free web-based classified ads system for the campus community to announce events, look for roommates or places to live, post lost and found announcements, find or offer rides, tutoring, babysitting, and sell or buy books and other merchandise. - Email Services
- including all "@mines.edu" email addresses, campus mailing lists and web stored attachment services, spam filtering, and webmail.
- Networking Services
- campus-wide network development, management, operation, and support; campus housing network; campus wireless network, traffic management, modem pool services, Internet and Internet 2 access, DNS, IP management, DHCP, and related services.
- Network Security Services
- firewall services, virtual private network (VPN) services, security advisory services,vulnerability scanning, incident reporting and investigation.
- Trailhead Campus Web Portal
- access to various campus web services including a personal calendar, e-mail, blackboard, classified ads, Self Service registration, drop/add, schedule, and other functions.
- Training
- an assortment of web-based training courses are available to all students, faculty, and staff.
- Video Conferencing
- limited video conferencing services are available via ISDN dialup (H.320) or the Internet (H.323).
- Virus Protection
- virus protection software is available free of charge to all students, faculty, and staff, and can be installed on personally-owned computers.
- Web Administration
- manage and administer the www.mines.edu web server including implementation of top level pages, campus search engine, and general secure web server. Administer resources to support student and faculty personal, group, and course websites.
Resources and Services available primarily to the academic community include

- provides support and administration services to covered academic departments and divisions
- Blackboard Course Management System
- make course schedules, announcements, documents and other content material available online, administer tests and quizzes, online discussion forums.
- Equipment Checkout and Loan
- short term use of laptops, projectors, digital cameras and other resources for students and faculty.
- Facilities and Resources
- computer open and teaching labs and other facility information; locations, hours; software available, and scheduling; CTLM resources and services; equipment checkout and loan.
- Printing
- where to print, what kind of printing is available, and how much it costs
- Room Scheduling
- information about scheduling computer teaching labs, conference rooms, and video conference resources managed by C&N.
- Software
- site, volume, and discounted software available primarily for institutionally-owned computers, with occasional exceptions for faculty- or student-owned computers.
