General Description

This is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program, emphasizing 3 dimensional mechanical design.

Availability

This product is installed in the centrally managed Windows Labs in the CSMCC domain (located in the Green Center, CTLM and the Library), as well as other places on campus. Additional installations may be made in accordance with the license described below.

Scope of License

Campus-wide educational site license.

Details of License

The product is available for installation on campus-owned and campus-located machines for use by faculty/students for instructional purposes. It is not for use in research labs or for commercial purposes. It is also available for use on student and faculty personal and home machines, either used on campus or accesing the license server securely through our modems or our VPN.

Cost to CSM end-user

Computing and Networking does not currently charge for the use of this license

Media and Licensing mechanisms

There are three installation CD ROMs.

Licensing to use this product expires each year at the end of September, and currently is renewed annually.

Method for Obtaining

We'll want to know your name (and see an ID), your advisor or equivalent if you are a student, your phone extension, the machine's operating system, location and owner, and the general use the software will be put to. Request a check-out from:

Frequency of Updates

We receive a new edition each year in the late summer. Occasionally, patches are issued midyear.

Online while running the program, under "Help", and also files located in C:\Program Files\SolidWorks EE\lang\english\ .

In case of difficulties installing or running the program

Contact us through one of the above links. We are interested in getting you to where the program is properly installed and functional. We can answer some questions about the use of the program, but we expect you to do the bulk of the work in that area. The blue-vested consultants in Computing and Networking labs are also a good resource. We do not offer extensive programming, design or problem-solving services.
