Sample Proposals:

Proposals do not need to be lengthy to be effective. If you are requesting less than $5,000 then your proposal should generally not exceed one to two pages in length. The following proposals are provided as samples of different types of proposals from different departments and organizations. All of the listed proposals received full or partial funding.

Please note that these proposals use old worksheets for the cover page and the older format where the Executive Summary was the first section of the proposal body. Please be sure to use current worksheets (aka cover sheets) and comply with format and content requirement of the current RFP.

$3,100 Geophysics Projector This is a good example of a proposal requesting < $5,000. It's short and to the point. Please fill in the worksheet in Word and convert to PDF, however. Fully funded.
$48,430 New Library Microfiche Readers This proposal was submitted by the Graduate Student Association for resources used often by graduate students in the Library. It is thorough and provided enough information for the committee to discuss some of the priorities and make some recommendations and changes. The proposal was slightly overfunded but the committee asked that some changes be made. Please fill in the worksheet in Word and convert to PDF.
$43,061 Physics Data Acquisition Systems Strong academic proposal requesting data acquisition systems for physics electronics labs and for field session. Good budget summary, matching funds. Fully funded.
$40,000 Server Upgrades for Computing Ctr CTLM Infrastructure proposal to upgrade servers and related backup systems to support appx 200 added client systems due to CTLM opening. Good matching - $40,000 request as part of overall $164,000 project. Fully funded.
$8,688 Network Wiring for Unit Ops Lab Infrastructure proposal to provide new wiring to support academic computing needs in Unit Operations Lab. Good match. Funded for $8,188.
