[August 4, 2006]: Academic Campus Network Equipment Upgrades :

During the next few weeks AC&N will be upgrading the network equipment throughout the academic campus. This upgrade requires that we take each academic building/floor off-line for several hours while the equipment is replaced.

Unfortunately, due to the number of locations to be upgraded and the very short amount of time left to us for the upgrades, we are unable to perform all this work during off-hours (i.e. at night or weekends). Therefore we are scheduling downtime for each area for early weekday mornings, starting at 7:00am and finishing as close to 9:00am a possible.

We currently have the following outages scheduled. Note that there will be more buildings scheduled as we coordinate with users. I will announce those days/times as I get them.

Please review the following schedule with anyone who might be affected by this outage and let us know as soon as possible if there are any unacceptable conflicts (i.e. short courses, classes etc.). Note that the floors marked with * contain the building uplink to the reset of the campus. When we upgrade those floors their will be a brief period of time when the entire building is off-line.

Berthoud: * 1st floor - Wednesday August 9th 7:00am to 9:00am 2nd floor - Thursday August 10th 7:00am to 9:00am 3 & 4th floor - Friday August 11th 7:00am to 9:00am

Coolbaugh: * 1st floor - Saturday August 12th, 9:00am to 12:00am 2nd floor - Saturday August 12th, 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Chauvenet * (all floors) Saturday August 12th, 6:00pm until 10:00pm

Green Center 2nd floor south end, Sunday August 14th from 10:30am until 1:30pm

Stratton * (all floors) Sunday August 14th from 2:00pm until 5:00pm

We apologize in advance for the inconvenience that we know this outage will cause, however we believe that in the long run this upgrade will create a much more stable network environment.

Please contact network@mines.edu if you have any questions.
