AREA OF SPECIAL INTEREST • • • [DIVISION OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS]


Undergraduate programs within the Division of Economics and Business include a major in Economics, a minor in Economics and Business and an area of special interest in Economis and Business. The Division also serves the broader CSM community through its offering of Principles of Economics for non-majors, part of the CSM coursework core. 

ASI Requirements:

12 credit hours/4 courses in EBGN.

Complete Principles of Economics EBGN201 and three other EBGN courses. (Note: students may not count EBGN311 and EBGN312 in conjunction with EBGN201.)

or...

Complete Principles of Microeconomics (EBGN311) and Principles of Macroeconomics (EBGN312) and two other EBGN courses. (Note: students may not count EBGN201 in conjunction with EBGN311 and EBGN312).

Economics courses taken as part of the Humanities and Social Sciences electives (formerly known as Clusters) count towards the area of special interest. No more than 3 hours may be specifically required for the degree program in which the student is graduating.

Note: Math/Comp Science and Chemistry majors are not allowed to count EBGN201 towards an ASI because it is required for your major.

Note: Chemical Engineering majors may not count both EBGN201 and EBGN321/CHGN421. Instead only one applies towards the ASI.

ASI forms are available at the Registrar's office. Once the form is filled out, Dr. Houser will review and sign your minor form. Once signed, return the form to the Registrar's office.
