The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering depends on funds raised by gifts and donations from alumni, friends of the department, and the private sector. While we have support from the University for many of our programs, those that rely heavily on fundraising include:

  • our field geology program (field camp and field labs for undergraduate and graduate classes);
  • fellowships for graduate students
  • maintenance and expansion of student computing facilities;
  • our department "discretionary" account that supports activities such as special teaching and research need and opportunities for students and faculty, analytical equipment purchase and maintenance, publication of the Newsletter, maintenance of the webpage, and our Advisory Board meetings.

You can make a an annual gift of $25 or more online to the Geology and Geological Engineering Department Fund. Alternatively, gifts to the Department from Alumni and friends can be made in the form of a check, cash, credit card, or by a pledge. Increase you contribution by having your employer match your gift. Many companies will match their employees' gifts to higher education. In some cases your spouse's company may also contribute to your gift. Check with your company's Human Resources Office for their participation in matching gifts.
