Student Support Funds to Attend the Landslide Conference

Scholarships for the 1st North American Landslide Conference are supported by various associations and organizations sponsoring the Landslide Conference.

Applicants for “Student Funds to attend the 1st North American Landslide Conference” must be:

• A Student enrolled in a degree curriculum at an accredited college or university at the time of application
• Sponsored by a faculty member at the school they are attending, and
• Register for and attend all days of technical sessions of the Conference

The minimum amount awarded for each student will be the $300 Conference registration fee. Depending on the number of applicants, additional funds may be available to help offset travel/housing expenses. Our goal is to maximize the number of student attendees. Checks will be presented at the Conference on Friday, June 8, 2007.

Although not a pre-requisite for receiving support funds, preference will be given to those students who are:

• Presenter of a paper or poster at the Landslide Conference,
• Co-author of a paper or poster to be presented at the Landslide Conference,
• Actively involved in landslide research (including thesis or dissertation)

Thus student applicants who meet any of these additional criteria should add the pertinent information to the application form. Please indicate what other financial support you have from your university or other sources to attend the Conference. For those students who have not registered yet, indicate the minimum amount of support needed for you to be able to attend.

“Student Fund” applications will be reviewed and evaluated by a Selection Committee, which will determine the award recipients in its sole discretion.

Print a copy of the application form, and complete all information, including an advisor’s signature. The form should be filled out using a printed copy, it is not designed for electronic data entry.

Completed applications should be faxed or emailed as quickly as possible. Email delivery is preferred, but Fax delivery is acceptable. The email option will require the completed form to be scanned and attached to the e-mail.

Email and Fax addresses are provided on the application form.

Applicants submitting requests by May 16 will be notified in writing of the status of their request by May 18 so that new attendees can make 14-day advance flight reservations. However, applications will be accepted until May 30, 2007.
