Just a little over a mile from Berthoud Hall, is the Fossil Trace Golf Course, named for 70 million year old leaf imprints and dinosaur footprints. The Friends of Dinosaur Ridge organization has led 2 public tours of the site, and here are some pictures.

Chip Parfet, owner of part of the land adjacent to the golf course, enjoys telling
visitors about the clay mining operations his family has done over the past 100 years.

A large number of palm fronds indicate a tropical environment in this
area. Charcoal outlines show broad leaf plant imprints as well.

One footprint is clear enough that CU Denver professor
Martin Lockley made a plaster cast of it for preservation.
