Materials Science Research Seminars Fall 2008

The Materials Science Research Seminars are held every Thursday, 4:00 PM, HH 202. Materials Science Grad students are expected to participate and attend these seminars as part of their graduate experience. Interested CSM faculty and the public are also invited to attend. Refreshments served in the classroom prior to the seminar.

Sep 4	Student Welcome and H&S Refresher, Dr. Mishra, Associate MME Department Head, will welcome MME students. Tim Sweitzer, Environmental Health and Safety Manager, will give the H&S Refresher course. Faculty, undergrads, grads, and staff working in the labs must attend. New students must take the full H&S course. Check with H&S for times and places.
Sep 11	Dr. Juan Carlos Madeni, will present "Carbide Stability and Evolution in Cr-Mo Steels Used in Power Generation Plants," a research paper by J.C. Madeni, S. Liu, D. Olson, V. Petr and R. Hellner. Host: Professor David Olson.
Sep 18	Dr. Partha Mukherjee, Los Alamos National Laboratory, will present "Electrodes, Transport and Materials Design in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells." Host: Professor Ryan O'Hayre.
Sep 25	Dr. Bastiaan Cornelissen, Associate, Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. Topic: "Forensic Engineering - The Role of Engineers in the Legal System." Host: Professor David Olson
Oct 2	Dr. Kirk Lindahl, Ball Aerospace, will present "MCT Long Wave IR Focal Plane Arrays." Host: Professor David Olson
Oct 9	Dr. George Wang, Senior Managing Principal Engineer, ABS Corporate Technology, Houstin, and Shiro Imai, General Manager, Plate Technical Sales & Marketing, Nippon Steel, will present "Recent Progress of Steel Plates for Ship Hull Structures." Host: Professor David Olson.
Oct 16	Dr. Rodney D. Smith, Element One, will present "Wide Area Hydrogen Sensing Technology." Host: Professor David Olson.
