MNGN414 - Mine Plant Design Classes.

Professional Experience

1998 – 2000: Colorado School of Miners, Edgar Experimental Mine

Engineering Technician II

Assisted with the maintenance of the equipment and facilities at the Colorado School of Mines Edgar Experimental Mine. Assisted in the instructional activities performed at the Edgar mine. Interfaced with research companies to optimize their use of the facility.

1993 – 1998: Phoenix Mine, Idaho Springs, CO

Mine Manager

Managed the development of a small underground gold mine. Operations included the evaluation and development of a small high grade mineral deposit, and the construction of small gold extraction plant that utilized flotation and gravity concentration techniques with hydro-metallurgical refining of the concentrates.

1989 – 1993: Martin Marietta, Denver, CO

Cost Analysis/Systems Engineer

Performed engineering economic analysis for NASA and Air Force programs. Responsibilities included generation of database computer models to optimize cost and logistics of future launch systems and spacecraft.

1989: Western Mining Inc., Western Hog Ranch Mine, Gerlach, NV

Mine Planning Engineer

Implemented a new ore reserve and grade control system utilizing the Surpac Mining Program. Participated in a re-evaluation of a 10 million ton gold mineral inventory to establish the true ore reserve of the mineral deposit.

1989: Franklin Consolidated Mining Company, Idaho Springs, CO

Mineral Concentrating Plant Manager

Managed the refurbishment and operation of a 100-ton per day selective flotation concentrating plant, which produced separate copper-lead, zinc and gold-pyrite products for specific markets. Responsibilities included trouble-shooting during start up of a plant, and the day to day management of the facility during operation.

1987 - 1989: Nevada Gold Fields Inc., Empire, CO

Mine Site Engineer

Responsibilities included the day-to-day management of a major exploration and delineation-drilling program to establish gold mineral reserve and to evaluate the property as a potential 3000-ton per day open-pit gold mine. Managed reverse circulation and core drilling contractors for two drilling seasons. Assembled assay and survey data and performed several mine feasibility studies.

1985 - 1996: Bureau of Land Management, Phoenix Training Center, Phoenix, AZ

Short Course Instructor

Taught a bi-yearly class on the economic evaluation of small mines for the course in “Mining Claim Validity Examination Procedures” that was part of the curriculum to become a United States Mineral Examiner.

1984 – 1985: New Mexico Bureau of Mines, Socorro New Mexico

Metallurgical Laboratory Assistant

Assisted laboratory manager with mineral concentration and hydrometallurgy experiments. Performed fire assaying and atomic absorption analysis for the laboratory.

1979 - 1981: Amax Inc., Henderson Mine, Empire, CO

Henderson Mine – Summer Internship
