  Max Bowen Mineral Processing Laboratory

The mineral processing laboratory at the Mining Engineering Department of The Colorado School of Mines (CSM), serves as an interdisciplinary link between mining metallurgy and environmental engineering disciplines.

Activities at this laboratory include the following:

  • Teaching

  • Research

  • Industrial problem solutions

  • Continuing education courses and

  • Consulting services through CSM-managed contracts

Relatively small-size classes, enhance the teaching function of this laboratory, (MNGN323) to proceed in tandem with the Mineral Processing Lecture Course, (MNGN322).

The following are examples of project capabilities of the mineral processing laboratory:

  • Chemical Analyses and Assays

  • CIP/CIL Studies

  • Coal Washing and De-sulfurization

  • Column Flotation

  • Contact Angle Measurement

  • Corrosion Studies

  • Critical Surface Tension of Wetting Measurement

  • Crushing
