Melinda (Allen) Otting  (BSc '00)  is a full-time mom to adopted daughter and "rambunctious toddler" Sarah (born in May 2005).  Her husband, Uriah Otting (BSc' 99, MEng MME '00) works at Intel as a senior processor engineer.  They live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  (9/06)

Robert "Rob" Applegate (BSc '03/Public Affairs minor, currently working toward a degree in applied physics with a minor in applied optics) and his wife Natalie had a baby boy, Christopher Dane, on February 24, 2007.  Congratulations!  (3/07)

James A. Casey (BSc '98) finished his masters in material science from the University of Maryland, College Park in December 2005.  He left his job at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC to take a position as new materials process development engineer at Dow Corning in Midland, Michigan.  He and his wife Masha had their first child, Jason on June 2, 2006.  Congratulations!  (6/06)

Schick (BSc ’02, PhD ’07) is working as a Technical Specialist with a high-tech law firm called Carr & Ferrell, LLP which specializes in developing intellectual property portfolios for venture-backed start-up companies.  He plans to start law school in the fall 2008 at Santa Clara University.  His significant other, Tara Holz (MSc Biomedical Engineering ’07) works at BC Tech, a company that develops medical devices for major biotech clients such as Medtronic and Stryker.  (10/07)

John M. Yarbrough (PhD ’07) works at NREL in Basic Sciences Research.   His research interest is in the development and implementation of novel characterization techniques in the area of imaging and spectroscopy to obtain a better fundamental understanding of biological systems and the process of biomass conversion, on a nanometer/micron-level scale, which is used in the area of alternative and renewable energies.  (2/08)
