Mines is pleased to announce our
participation in the national GEM Consortium. The GEM fellowship
programs are designed to offer opportunities for underrepresented
students to obtain M.S. degrees in engineering and Ph.D. degrees
in engineering and the natural and physical sciences through
a program of paid summer internships and graduate financial assistance.
Eligibility
Students
must be from the following underrepresented groups: African
American, Mexican American, American Indian, Puerto Rican American,
and other Hispanic Americans. The applicants must be U.S. citizens
at the time of application. Additional academic requirements
can be found on the GEM
website.
Financial Support
Both the M.S. engineering fellowship and the Ph.D. fellowships
pay tuition, fees, and a stipend during the academic year. Fellows
also receive a paid summer internship at a company sponsor site.
These internships take place the summer prior to beginning the
graduate program and may continue up to three summers.
