What's different about bioengineering?

At CSM, the Bioengineering and Life Sciences (BELS) Program offers Areas of Special Interest and interdisciplinary minors in bioengineering and life sciences.

BELS brings together faculty from eight CSM departments to create an integrated program that applies engineering to living systems. Whether you want to go to medical school or are thinking about a career in the biosciences or bioengineering, BELS gives you a background that's flexible and strong.

And if you are interested in using BELS as a preparation for med school, you should contact our Pre-Med Advisor, Dr. Joel Bach, for more information (303-273-2161, jmbach@mines.edu).

What can I do with it?

Bioengineers develop artificial organs and joints and apply engineering to the medical and health care fields, as well as create manufacturing processes for new medicines. They also go to graduate school in engineering, bioengineering, and medicine.
