Housing

Living on campus offers plenty of advantages. Golden is a beautiful town. The campus is quiet and safe. You're only 25 minutes from Boulder and downtown Denver. And if you're on campus, it's a quick dash to that 8 a.m. class.

Freshmen live in all our housing facilities, and the good news is that we've been busy with renovation and new construction. Morgan, Thomas, Bradford, and Randall, our traditional residence halls, have recently been renovated with new bathrooms, carpet, windows, and heating and cooling. Mines Park is a brand-new, apartment-style housing facility that recently has been doubled in size. And if suite-style living with a group of students suits you, consider Weaver Towers.

Beyond housing, we have installed a One Card System, called the Blaster Card, that will give you safe, keyless entry to Residence Halls while also serving as your debit card for food service, the bookstore, and the laundry facilities.

Students who do not live in the residence halls live at home, in fraternity or sorority houses, or rent rooms or apartments in Golden. Click here to learn more.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Are new students required to live on campus? No, but through May 1, we guarantee a space in our Residence Halls to new students.

What about cars and parking? You may bring a car to campus. You must register your car with the CSM Public Safety Office.

How are roommates selected? We try to match roommates by common attributes. If two students want to live together, we’ll try to accommodate them. Housing assignments are made based upon date of receipt of a fully executed contract.

How do I apply for housing? We send an application to you when you are accepted for admission. Should you need another application, please contact Jackie Hayner (Resident Life Assignment Specialist at: jackie.hayner@is.mines.edu).

What about mail and telephones? Each residence hall complex has mailboxes, and each room has a telephone line. Local calls are free, but you must call collect or use a calling card for long distance.

What about towels and bed linen? You have to supply your own towels, pillows, and bed linen including blankets, extra long sheets (80"x36"), comforter and mattress pad.

Can I connect to the Internet and the campus computer network from my room? Yes, and there is no charge for access. As of Fall 2006 all Resident Halls were equipped to provide wireless Internet connectivity as well.

Floor Plan

The floor plan for a typical double room in the Mines Traditional residence halls is shown here. The bookshelf and wardrobe units are attached to the wall, and the beds are bunkable. Students must supply their own towels, pillow, and bed linen.

Each room has two waste cans, two desks, two desk chairs, and window coverings, and has connections for cable TV, the Internet, and phone with campus and local area access.

Also, there is a television lounge, mailroom, and laundry room in each hall complex.
