With 16 percent of the student body participating in varsity athletics and over 50 percent involved in intramurals, athletics are popular at CSM. Even so, students often ask, “Can I be an athlete and succeed as a student?” The answer is yes.

In the 2001-2002 school year, CSM student-athletes had an average 3.03 GPA while taking an average course load of over 15 credit hours. Athletic and academic success require commitment, discipline, and organization, and for CSM student-athletes, those qualities make for both athletic and academic success.
