Instructor Training for Blackboard

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is enterprise level software which enables the use of the Internet to enhance teaching and learning. Blackboard allows for online content management and sharing, assignment and assessment management as well as facilitating collaboration and communication.

This training can benefit both new and seasoned Blackboard Instructors. For those who are interested in using this product, this course will provide a thorough familiarization with Blackboard that will enable you to customize your own . Seasoned instructors will be introduced to some of the changes in v.6 and fill in any holes in understanding.

Prerequisites

Basic word processing, computer use and Internet skills (such as experience with MS Word, WordPerfect, saving documents in PDF format, web browsing and uploading files) are needed for use of the Blackboard system at a basic level.

Upon Completion

Learn About:

  • Blackboard Features

  • Requesting a Blackboard Course

  • Logging into Blackboard

  • Making a Course Available

  • Enrolling Students and Managing a Blackboard Course Roster.

  • Graders, TAs and other Roles.

  • Assignment of Reading Assignments, Labs and Exercises.

  • Adding Course Content to a Blackboard Course.

  • Working with the Gradebook.

  • Archiving a course.

Duration

This course is expected to be about two hours including some hands-on time as well. Depending on your needs and desires, we will either create a demo course your your exclusive use or we'll use your actual academic course for this familiarization session.

When will this training take place?

The training will be conducted the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 - 11:30am in CTLM Room 229 to make sure you start the semester with the training you need to be successful.
