General Network Information

Colorado School of Mines connects to regional networks and the Internet via Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) equipment providing multiple connections at 10 Gigabits-per-second. These connections provide the campus with high-speed access to the Internet, research and education oriented Internet2, and the school’s High Performance Computing resources. These links then connect to a campus core running at 10 and 40 Gbps.

Most wired network connections on the academic campus operate at 1 Gbps. Wireless networking on the academic campus supports the 802.11ac standard and speeds approaching 1 Gbps. An upgrade in the residence halls to the 802.11a/b/g/n wireless standard supports speeds up to 300Mbps.
