Mines chemistry department presents drama focused on Marie Curie
GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 13, 2009 – Colorado School of Mines Department of Chemistry and Geochemistry and Mines’ student chapter of the American Chemical Society present Manya - A living history of Marie Curie at 7 p.m., Jan. 23, in Bunker Auditorium in the Green Center, 924 16th St., on the Mines campus.
The one-woman drama by local artist Susan Marie Frontczak is free and open to the public.
The performance reveals the struggles and triumphs of Madame Marie Curie. Madame Curie is best known for the discovery of radium and radioactivity but few understand the obstacles she faced just to get into the laboratory. Political oppression, romance, scientific brilliance, fame, tragedy and perseverance take you on a compelling journey exploring the tenacity of the human spirit and the responsibility of science.
