Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper 2008 Young Environmental Symposium speaker

GOLDEN, Colo., March 24, 2008 – The Colorado School of Mines 2008 Young Environmental Symposium speaker, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, will present “Being Good Ancestors: Our Obligation to Sustainability” on April 7 from noon to 1 p.m. in the ballrooms of the Ben H. Parker Student Center, 1600 Maple St. in Golden.

Hickenlooper, a former exploration geologist and businessman, was first elected mayor of Denver in 2003 and reelected to his second term in 2007. In 2005 he launched Greenprint Denver — the city's action plan to promote sustainable development and ecologically-friendly practices throughout city government and the community.
 

Hickenlooper graduated from Wesleyan University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in English in 1974 and a master’s degree in geology in 1980.

Herbert Young, a 1939 Colorado School of Mines graduate with an Engineer of Mines degree and his wife Doris established the Young Environmental Symposium.
