Marathon Oil Corporation executive to speak on energy security

GOLDEN, Colo., Nov. 3, 2008 – Steven P. Hinchman, executive vice president for technology and services with Marathon Oil Corporation, will present “Delivering America’s Energy Security” on Nov. 6 at noon in Metals Hall inside the Green Center, 924 16th St. on the Colorado School of Mines campus in Golden. 

Following the talk, Hinchman will announce Marathon Oil Corporation’s $1 million gift to Mines in support of the Marathon Center of Excellence for Reservoir Studies, which will be located in the school’s new, state-of-the-art petroleum engineering building, Marquez Hall.
 
In his talk, a part of the university’s Executive Lecture Series, Hinchman will present a comprehensive strategy to achieve America's energy security and economic competitiveness in the face of strong expected growth in long-term energy demand. He will emphasize balanced solutions that include a concentration on energy efficiency, diversity of supply, and technology.
