Our Mission

The center for earth Materials Mechanics and Characterization (EM2C) is a multidisciplinary research center intended to foster research in a variety of areas including rock mechanics, earth systems, and nontraditional characterization. The Center does not limit its focus to either "hard" or "soft" rock applications but is, instead, intended to foster research in both arenas and encourage interdisciplinary communications between the associated disciplines. The Colorado School of Mines is a world leader in multidisciplinary integration and therefore presents a unique atmosphere to foster the success the of such research.
