Santa Stuffed Berners (Dec. 1997)
These Berners hold a great sit-stay! Available at Walmart in the U.S. and Canada ($7.95/$12.95 respectively). They are sporting a santa hat and a bow tie. They have been reported with the stuffed toys and with the Christmas items.

Stuffed Berners (Dec. 1997)
These Berners seem to be well trained, some doing sit-stays and others doing nice down-stays. These even have white tail tips! Available at Meijers.

Little Stuffed Berners
Cardinal Gold Medal Shampoos come with little stuffed dogs. The Berner can be found on the flea/tick shampoo. These should appear at your local PetSmart in February '98.

Barking Stuffed Berners
Hallmark stores (Norman's in Princeton, NJ) have a Berner who barks when you squeeze his tummy. Cost: $7.95.

Berner Plate

Marianne Becktel, owner of this business, says that while she "can do this with any picture [...], part of the profit from [her] berner friends will go to a good berner cause." For this holiday season, (1997) the cause will be national rescue because "everyone should have a happy home for the holidays."

Shower Adapter
Rinse Ace Household Device. Connector screws in above shower head, then 7 foot hose is "plugged" into the connector. When hose is plugged in, water is diverted from shower head to hose. The hose doesn't squirt water until you depress the handle at the head --Lori Hershey (paraphrased)

A California company. They are plexiglass, always an advantage as the incoming dog(s) can see the outgoing dog(s) and collisions can be kept at a minimum. They are actually a set of two doors, hinged in the middle, similar to saloon doors.

Solo Pet Doors. A sliding motorized door that is electronically activated by a sensor mounted on your pet's collar. The door automatically locks when in the closed position and can only be opened by the sensor. It can also be hooked up to your home security system. The door is made of bronzed transparent lexan. Watercolors
Janet L. Wissmann does wonderfully detailed watercolor paintings. She has many designs available as notecards, small matted prints, buttons, and pocket mirrors. She has also done a re-creation of the Victorian painting of a girl in the corner with her dog, but she has replaced the original collie-type dog with a Berner. In addition, she does custom watercolor portraits from photographs.

Wooden Berners in Swiss costumes/Berner puzzle
Dawn's Dawgs has wooden berners of various sizes, dressed in beautifully detailed Swiss costumes. Most are less than a foot tall standing upright. Also a wonderful Berner puzzle cut from wood. It's a nursing bitch with several puppies under her, and one under her chin. (size: 6" X 3").

Vacuum Cleaner
These vacuums are used by the YMCA in Estes Park. Two models were discussed: Versamatic ($550-$600) and Sensor SR 15 ($400-$450).
The Versamatic is the industrial model and is deemed overkill for household use. John Ward describes the Sensor SR 15 like this:

Berner Pencil Holder (December 1998)
This pencil holder is a puppy standing on his hind legs looking into a garbage can, which holds the pencils. The description on the back of the package says that this is "Butch", a Rottweiler/Mixed Breed. The whole thing is made of heavy plastic, and stands about four inches tall. Price: $5.99 (free if you buy the associated brand of dog food).

Doghouse-shaped frames with 6 different poses of BMD featured on the frame. The closed frame size is 6.24"x7" and holds either a 3x5 or 4x6 horizontal photo.
Cost: $9.95 for 1; $16.95 for 2; $6.95 each after 2. (All prices quoted are postpaid.) A donation of 10% of the proceeds from sale of the Berner frames will be made to the Berner Rescue Fund.
