TURBULENT DISTURBANCES
Turbulent disturbances along both
polar fronts
and the
intertropical convergence
are superimposed on global
features of atmospheric circulation like random noise.
Those along the
polar fronts
are called
'mid-latitude disturbances';
those along the
intertropical convergence
are called
'tropical disturbances'.
Most
precipitation
results from these disturbances.
