TURBULENT DISTURBANCES

Turbulent disturbances along both polar fronts and the intertropical convergence are superimposed on global features of atmospheric circulation like random noise. Those along the polar fronts are called 'mid-latitude disturbances'; those along the intertropical convergence are called 'tropical disturbances'. Most precipitation results from these disturbances.
