CLIMATE CHANGE: GLACIAL EVIDENCE
Evidence for the presence of glaciers is provided by
scouring of the basement rock and valleys eroded to
a U-shaped cross section. Moraine deposits mark the edges and
maximal advance of glaciers and provide evidence to the
temporal succession of advances. Deposits of glaci-fluvial
gravels and sands indicate the presence of glacial melt water
beneath and at the edges of glaciers.
