GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE: THEORETICAL EXPLANATION
One approach to theoretical explanation for global climate
change focuses on changes in total solar energy flux to the
earth's surface. Changes in solar radiation reaching the
outer surface of the atmosphere at the time scale of 10 Kyr
years are driven by
Milankovitch cycles
in the coupled orbital and axial
angular momentum systems of the earth.
This effect is modulated by small
amplitude perturbations in the
solar energy
reaching the
earth's surface caused by
volcanic aerosols.
