North Platform
From Structure P
( Technical Information)
( JPEG 0.8 mb.)

The North Platform seen from Structure P on the east side of the Main Plaza. A part of Structure U (Structure II) appears in the lower right foreground.

The structures whose stabilized and partially reconstucted ruins are visible in the photograph date from the Monte Albán III phase. However, ceramics from Monte Albán I have been recovered under the southeast corner of the platform (lower right in the photograph) at the Patio al Sur de Monticulo A and a burial dating to Monte Albán II was discovered under Structure g.

The tall pyramid in the background to the right, atop the platform is Structure g, (Structur VG), the Véritice Geodésico. In front of it is Structure A. The stairs on the front of the platform lead to the Patio Hundido. What appear to be remains of cylindrical columns (presumably roof supports) appear at the top of the stairs.
