Central Structures
From Ball Court
( Technical Information)
( JPEG 0.6 mb.)

Structures G, H and I comprise the central structures. Structure G, facing north, is in the foreground. Structure H with the remains of a temple on it's top clearly visible lies behind G facing east. Structure I, facing south, lies behind H.

The central structures (G, H, I) of the Main Plaza were probably begun during Monte Albán II and completed during Monte Albán III. They appear today as platforms with the remains two-room temples on top of them facing north (G), east (H) and south (I). Excavation in Structure I revealed an offering box containing Monte Albán II pottery suggesting that the earliest construction dates to this phase.
