Ceramics from the Valley of Oaxaca appear, for the first time, in significant quantities in the Ejutla Valley immediately to the south. There is some evidence of a military presence in the Cuicatlán about 100 km to the northeast across difficult terrain.
Structure J at Monte Albán, provides additional evidence for successful (the unsuccessful were not recorded) military adventures outside the Valley in the form of conquest slabs interpreted as monuments to military conquests towns whose location can sometimes be identified.
Ceramic evidence and ceramic production analysis suggest that this may have been a relative affluent time, in the access to a greater variety and more costly pots appears to have been more widespread.
