Work History (the Brief Version)
Colorado School of Mines, Arthur Lakes Library: Head of Reference 1993-present.
Much of my work involves access to scientific and technical information for
engineers, with an emphasis on geological information in some areas. In addition to managing the Reference Section, I have supervised the Document
Delivery and Circulation sections, and have been an instructor
for the CSM EPICS program and the McBride Honors Program. Reference Librarian
1991-1993. For 2008 I will be managing access to the Library's Mining
History Archive.
Montana Tech Library (Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology): 1988-1991. Reference Librarian, with an emphasis on information in engineering, geology and the physical sciences. I served as Acting Director of the Library from 1989-1991.
Indiana University, Cyclotron Facility Library: 1987-1988. Graduate assistant in librarianship, maintaining collections and providing information in physics and engineering.
Washington University. Earth and Planetary Sciences Dept.: Geology research and teaching assistant positions between 1981-1987. This included lab and field work, core logging, teaching lab courses, and leading field trips. Highlights: Research on the stratigraphy of the Weber and Phosphoria formations, western US; field research in Egypt; field work on Pacific sea mounts. Law Library: Circulation assistant and page for legal staff.
